"I am passionate about human potential and the ability we have to heal, mind and body"
As a highly experienced nurse and midwife, I spent over twenty years working at the cutting edge of IVF in Australia. I am now a counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist, running a successful private practice in rural Victoria, where I assist people to move through trauma and crisis by discovering their inner strengths. I’m passionate about empowering people to achieve their goals and reach their true potential by working with the principles that are explored in the latter part of ‘Sarah’s Story; a work of fiction based on the cumulative common experiences of countless numbers of women and men that I encountered over twenty years of working in the area of infertility; a book about resilience and overcoming adversity.
I too have endured my own adversities, as have every one of you, and I have learned from these adversities that although I may not always be able to control what is happening to me, I always have a choice as to what I think, feel and believe about my situation and where to focus my attention.
For me personally, it was only when I realised that the illness I had been enduring, which had left me incapacitated on so many occasions and prevented me from functioning on any kind of normal level, was actually a gift that was providing me with an opportunity, that I decided to stop fighting what was happening in my own body and just go with the flow. It was only then that I discovered that this halt in the proceedings of my life had a purpose. This was my opportunity to stop, to give thanks and to write what needed to be written, and thus, Sarah’s Story was born, and I am forever grateful.
Working in the infertility industry, I experienced first-hand the devastation that infertility can wreak on individuals, couples, friends and extended family alike. It can often be an insidious and unrelenting issue and there are many relationships that do not survive the experience. I have utilised the insight and knowledge that I have gained on my own journey and sensitively displayed this throughout the pages of Sarah’s Story.
I am blessed to be a mother of three beautiful children; Lachlan, Morgan, Rachel and stepmother to Jack. Grandmother to Imogen, Audrey and Brooklyn, and at the time of writing this, I am currently excitedly awaiting the arrival of my fourth grandchild, and I never take this privilege for granted.
My stories are designed to educate and create awareness about very serious topics. I choose to use the power of the written word to create a vehicle in which to carry these important messages, and in doing so, create needed conversations.
Since writing SARAH’S STORY, I have written my second novel: THE RIPPLES; a sensitively written, gripping account of one families' experience of suicide and the relentless, ever-present, damaging ripples created on not only a family in crisis, but an entire community and beyond, as they each seek to make sense of the unthinkable.
The purpose of writing these books is to shine a healing light of hope in the darkness that illuminates possibilities, highlighting that sometimes unexpected outcomes can be born out of the deepest despair, and each and every experience can provide us with valuable wisdom from which to create a new beginning.
